I go through almost a full year of challenging but fun, hysterical but heartbreaking times.(still keeping track of every single day after the proton decay.) My almost-a-full-year is worth it in the end because I learned the most valuable information that was in my grasp the whole time. I knew I should have reached for it earlier, but either way, I now understand what I was missing in my content-less life. Never shall I feel such downcast on something so subtle again.(No more PD Days for me.) Finally, I can live my life happily.

The book 13 tells the embarrassing and rough times of being thirteen. The chapter “Nobody stole Jason Grayson,” tells about a girl who stole a picture of the “popular guy” from his girlfriends locker.
When you are in middle school, there will always be,or you think there is some high-class, popular person. In this story…there are two. When the popular girl loses something , that can be replaced, everything has to stop.It shows how rich and mean she really is when she turns into a Drama Queen, and blames everyone else.
This book really relates to being 13. Once you turn 13, you don’t feel different. But people start looking at you differently. It is a stage where you start to be attracted to others, and trying to figure out who you are. If thats not bad enough, you are in middle school!
The stories in 13 capture the mind and idea of being thirteen.

The Curse of the Titans

This book is about four friends, one gets captured by a manticore.
These friends are very strange, they are demi-gods. There parents are zues, poisiden, athena, and hades. The main conflict is that their friend Annabeth is stolen by the manticore, and in order to save her the other friends have to deal with the profocy. The friends know the profocy but they have to they have to deal a lot of strange creatures,a lot of the creatures are strange some include Hippocampi, Eel cows, and Pegasus who help or stop them on there quest. though the friends have trouble fighting the creatures there are a lot more.

“the skeletans erupted from the ground ther was twelve of them”.
So this book is fantastic if you like greek mythology.

In this book, Bella Swan falls in love with a vampire. Edward(vampire) leaves her because with a little blood he could kill her. So Bella feels like her heart has been ripped out of her chest. She then reunites with her old friend, Jacob, but soon finds out he is a werewolf, the enemy of the vampire. Bella then goes cliff diving, not paying attention to the incoming hurricane, and nearly drowns. When Alice(Edward’s sister) has a vision into the future, Bella and Alice have to go and stop Edward from exposing himself to the light. Bella then finds Edward and stops him. I really recommend reading this book. It is the second book in this series. It is full of description and has romance, and action.

I then somehow end up three-thousand years ago and I met the girl again. I started to question her, but then she asked me,
“Are you a druid?”
“No. But it seems that I am now in your time.”
“I am in my time.”
“But if you are, I must be?”
“Our circles are touching.”

Now my life is changing. My grandparents forbid me to do anything out of the ordinary. My friend Zachery looks like he’s dying, and I’m stuck in the past and present. What am I to do?

IceFire

I have a writing dragon named Gadzooks. My professor for geography is Dr. Bergstrom who I have a bad feeling about, but later on I mysteriously find out who he is and how he knows about dragons.

Later on I meet Zanna, a goth girl who I soon get to know and helps me discover my true auma. She also helped me discover what Dr. Bergstrom has against Aunty Gwyneth, an old hag thats been after the firetear of the last dragon.The firetear of the last dragon is a tear that contains the dragons secret auma (strength or power). Aunty Gwyneth is staying at Liz’s house and claims to be a relative to Liz, but soon she takes matters into her own hands. She tries to decieve me into finding out where the firetear is or what happened to it. Aunty Gwyneth just wants the firetear for herself.

I do go on the quest to the Arctic to discover the truth about the link between the last dragon and the ancient secret of the firetear.

Yet, soon after that Diana came to my rescue. She is my best friend.

After being with Diana awhile I realized, I was sort of ‘out of the loop’ with her and the rest of the ‘populars’. But one night, I was told why. They had a secret, a big secret. I was a part of that secret. All 13 teens on my road were, you guessed it, WITCHES. And so was I. I became a part of The Secret Circle, but soon strange things began happening. The boy i had fallen in love with over the summer, Adam, was Diana’s boyfriend. Our circle realesed dark magic because of the ancient dark skull Adam brought home. Innocent by-standers have been killed in New Salem. Sure, being a witch is magical and fun, but is it really worth the price?

At the beginning, Lizzie is very confused and thinks that being dead isn’t fair. “‘So I”ll never be an adult?’ Liz asks. ‘I wouldn’t look at it that way, Liz Your mind still acquires experience and memories even while your body-’ Liz exploedes, ‘I’LL NEVER GO TO COLLEGE OR GET MARRIED OR GET BIG BOOBS OR LIVE ON MY OWN OR FALL IN LOVE OR GET MY DRIVER’S LICENSE OR ANYTHING? I CAN’T BELIEVE THIS!’” (p. 50-51)

Things get better though. It’s funny, fast paced, and has some romance.

The Breadwinner

Parvana had a good life. She lived in a nice house, her family owned a nice car, both her parents had well paying jobs. She had food to eat, clothes on her back, and an education that would help her in the future. this was her life until the Taliban took over.

When the Taliban took over, everything that was beautiful to Parvana was destroyed. The beautiful shops and restruarnts were bombed and were only bricks and sand now. Their house was bombed with their car. They would move into a diffrent house every time a bomb fell on their old one. With every hit they got poorer and poorer. They tryed to manage makeing money by selling some of their stuff that wasn’t bombed or damaged. Since all women were band to go outside without a man or a note from a man the women and children stayed inside since the Taliban passed their lawes. Then one day, two Taliban solders bust down their door and drag her father away to proson. A few days past and they ran out of foood. And since their was no man in the house they had to change Parvana’s apperance so she could look like a boy. It was unreal and scary to go through these cimcurmstances just to maintain a day to day life. But for Parvana and her family it was realty.

Tally and the rest of the cutters noctice that “Maddy’s cure” is getting widely spread across New Pretty town, ” Freedom has a way of destroying things”, so natrually the rest of the cutters are going to do anything to stop it. When Tally unintentionally causes war between New Smoke and New Pretty Town . Thats when Tally realizes the impacted she made on society.

Edgar and Ellen-Rare Beasts

“We’ve got rare pets, so place your bets on how much each little critter nets. People will come on private jets, phone their accountants, hire new vets. So dump more glitter, squirt more glue, color them purple, orange blue. Soon they’ll be ready for their debut and we’ll rake in revenue.”

This book is about two twins trying to make money out of selling rare beasts. The characters are really evil. In this book the twins steal regular animals from their neighbors and decorate them to make them look like rare beasts. They try to sell animals and money for their other evil plans. In their adventure, they always fight. For instance, they fought when they were being born to see who would be born first. Also, they only wear their striped pajamas that have worn out from red and white to black and gray.

90 minutes in Heaven

90 minutes in Heaven is a story between life and death.
Don Piper the author and main character in the book, gets into a really bad car accident in Texas and has severe injuries. Don goes to heaven for 90 minutes, while people on earth are saying that he is dead. When he goes to heaven he describes a gate that is right in front of him: ” The gate didn’t look like a pearl gate like it said in the bible, to me it looked like spread pearl icing on a cake.”

Don also explains what he goes through after he comes back to life. For example, after he comes back to earth, ” throbbing pains raced through my body after I start to feel things again and start knowing what is going on around me.”

This book also talks about what a persons life changes because of an accident and between life and death. Don Piper wrote this book because his friend inspiared him to write and talk about his experince in Heaven. When Don shared it with other people at his church, they were like “Wow heaven is real”. Don helped them when they lost a loved one by telling them that they are safe. This is a inside clue of what Heaven is about.
